Runescape–Archery Competition Guide

October 31, 2007

The Archery Game in the Ranging Guild is the place to go if you’re looking for Ranging Experience and prizes for the points you make. Just remember, the game can be found in the Ranging Guild, so you’ll need at least level 40 Ranging to enter! (runescape gold)

——————————————————————————–
Getting Started

The Ranging Guild itself can be found a short distance southwest of the Seer’s Village and north of Ardougne. A Ranging Guild Doorman will be guarding the door, and only those with a Ranging level of 40 or higher may pass.(Guild Wars)

Ranging Info

It also appears that the higher your Ranging level, the better you’ll do at the competition. You’ll hit the targets more often, and you’ll earn more points by being more accurate.(runescape gold)

Before making your way to the competition, be sure to bring enough cash. Each game costs 200gp, and you’ll need to pay each time you want to play again. It’s a safe bet to bring around 2,000gp, as the game can often get addictive! (runescape gold)
——————————————————————————–

The Competition

At the southeast end of the guild, you’ll find the Archery Competition. Speak to the Competition Judge and he will tell you that you can take part in the Archery Competition. You must pay 200gp in order to enter the competition each time, so be sure to bring as much money as you need!(runescape)

Tell the judge that you would like to try, and then give him the 200gp. He will give you 10 Bronze Arrows to use in the game; equip them and walk over to the nearby Hay Bales.(Guild Wars)

Now you’ll be able to shoot at the Targets by choosing the “Fire-At Target” option on the one you wish to fire at.(runescape) You’ll then aim and shoot an arrow at the target, and after a short period of time the Target View will appear.(runescape gold)

This screen will show you where you hit, and how many points were scored on the right.(Guild Wars) You’ll also see how many arrows you have remaining on the left side of the screen.(runescape) The scores for which part of the target you hit are as follows:

Bulls-Eye – 100 points – 50xp
Yellow – 50 Points – 25xp
Red – 30 Points – 15xp
Blue – 20 – 10xp
Black – 10 – 5xp
Missed Shot – 0 Points – 0xp
Claiming Your Reward

You can only use 10 arrows, and when you have used them all up return to the Competition Judge.(runescape money) He will give you a certain number of coupons or Archery Tickets depending on how well you did during the competition.(runescape gold)

For every 10 points you get, you’ll receive 1 Archery Ticket.(runescape gold) So for example, if you score 780 points, you’ll receive 78 Tickets.(Guild Wars money) The most points you can possibly get in 1 game is 1,000– 100 tickets, but you must be an experienced Archer to accomplish this. You can repeat this process as many times as you’d like, but you must pay 200gp each time you wish to play.(Guild Wars gold)

Runescape–Agility Pyramid Guide

October 28, 2007

The Agility Pyramid is a new mini-game in Runescape where you can train your agility while making your way to a reward at the end. This guide will help you through the pyramid and provide some helpful info to all of you agility adventurers!

——————————————————————————–

Getting Started
Of course, (runescape) before entering the pyramid, there are a few things that you should know.

Requirements
The only requirement to train your agility here is that you have at least level 30 Agility or higher.(runescape)

What to Bring

These items and equipment are a “must-have” while in here. (runescape money)

Equipment:
Desert Robes
This can be anything you want. The suit doesn’t matter at all, though I would wear the above because if you wear armour you will lose run energy. The desert robes will help you as you won’t die from thirst.(runescape money)

Backpack Items
The best food you can bring
A teleport method
About 10 full Waterskins
200-400gp, depending on how you wish to get there (explained below). (Guild Wars gold)
A Shantay Pass
Leave at least 2 spaces open for your reward and the artifact. (runescape)
Getting There

——————————————————————————–

First, make your way to the Shanty Pass just to the south of Al Kharid. Then, head a few paces south to the rug merchant. Ask him to take you to Pollnivneach. Once you are there, you have three options:

1. Walk from Pollnivneach to they pyramid through the desert.
2. For those that have completed the desert quests – walk to the south of Pollnivneach and take another magic carpet ride to Sophanem. Walk east from there.
3. Walk to the south of Pollnivneach and take a Magic Carpet Ride to Nardah. Walk west from here. There is also a bank in Nardah if you missed anything.

——————————————————————————–

The Pyramid
Once you’re there, walk to the westernmost side of the arena. You will see a wall of rocks.(runescape money)

Climb down (must have 30 agility). Once inside, talk to Simon. He will tell you he is working for the Varrock Museum and must recover artifacts from the pyramid. He’s too weak to climb it so it looks like you’re going to have to be the one to go up.(Guild Wars gold)

The Obstacles
Rotating Block – A simple rotating block that you must jump over.(runescape)
Experience: 12

Low Wall – A low wall of rock that must be climbed over.(runescape money)
Experience: 8

Cross Ledge – A ledge with only a small amount of walking room.(Guild Wars gold)
Experience: 20

Cross Gap – Keep a firm grip or you’ll fall!(runescape)
Experience: 22

Moving Block – Run past the block or it will push you off.
Experience: 0

Plank – Keep your balance on this thin walking plank.
Experience: 22

Jump Gap – Don’t look down or you may find yourself falling.(Guild Wars gold)
Experience: 22

Bonus: After completing the entire course, you’ll receive a 700xp bonus, for a total of 1,112 experience!

Note: If you fail an obstacle, you will take damage and fall to the previous level of the pyramid.(Guild Wars gold)

The Top Floor
At the top, you will find a small temple with an artifact on the roof. As soon as you go up, you will see climbing studs on the side of it. Climb up and take the artifact.

Now, make your way around to the other side of the pyramid and select the “enter doorway” option.(runescape gold)

When you have it, move over to the last to obstacles, and you can leave the pyramid, to start it over at the beginning.

If you want, you can sell your artifacts to Simon Templeton, who can be found just outside the pyramid, for 1000gp each.

Basic Technique – Mining Rune Essence

October 24, 2007

Perquisites: – This technique is for both non-members and members – Any level (Guild Wars) – Any amount of Runescape gold – Completed Rune Mysteries quest (see below) Runescape Essence is a trade item that can be made into Runescape by players. You need to complete the Runescape Mysteries quest to be able to mine Rune essence. Don’t worry, though, the Rune Mysteries quest is relatively easy and doesn’t require any combat skill whatsoever – you just run around and do errands for characters. You can start the quest at the basement of the Wizards Tower.(Guild Wars) You need a pickaxe to mine Runescape Essence! Pickaxes are extremely cheap runescape gold. Buy one that best matches your mining level. New players should start with an iron or bronze pickaxe. Bronze pickaxes sell for just a few Runescape gold points each.(Guild Wars) Getting There After you have finished the quest, talk to the Varrock Runescape Shop owner and he’ll teleport you to the Rune Essence mine.(Guild Wars) Mine the Rune Essence until you have a full load, then go back to Varrock and deposit your load of Rune Essence at the bank. As soon as you have enough Rune Essence, sell your load at either Varrock World 1 or Falador World 2 for the maximum market price. (Guild Wars) Remember to watch the Runescape forums for current prices!

Basic Technique – Law Running and Air Running

October 21, 2007

Tip: Travel as light as possible while running runescape! Don’t bring any armor that weighs anything!

Perquisites:

- This technique is for both non-members (Air Running only) and members
- Any level(runescape money)
- Any amount of runescape gold
- 25 Rune Essence (Air Running) to 27 Pure Essence (Law Running)
- Air Tiara (Air Running) or Law Tiara (Law Running)

There is little or no risk in runescape Running. This can be done by any level player with any amount of cash.

Law running and air running are some examples of the “instant” ways to make cash on Runescape. It’s not nearly as fast at making runescape gold as some of the more advanced methods described in this guide, but the difference is, there is absolutely no risk in rune running at all! runescape running is possible because high level players are always trying to gain Runecrafting XP by crafting runes. However, they need people to bring them rune essence to make the runescape.
Air Running – Non-members and Members
Air running is basically the same as Law Running, except that it can be done by non-members as well as members(Guild Wars). You’ll need to be on World 16 and pay visits to the Air altar. You should have 25 Rune essence in your inventory when air running (you can buy rune essence fast on world 1 or world 2). How much runescape gold you will make from air running depends on your timing and luck.

1. Go to Falador East Bank and withdraw the 25 Rune essence. (Guild Wars)

2. Make the run south to the Air altar.(Guild Wars)

3. Once you get to the alter, look for people saying “open.” Trade with them. On the trade screen, offer 25 Rune essence. The other player will trade you 25 noted essence and some runescape gold for your effort (To make sure you’re getting a fair amount of runescape gold, check around to see how much other air runners are getting paid runescape money).

4. Head back to the Falador East Bank and repeat the process until you get enough runescape money.

Law Running – Members Only
The world where most people will law run is World 66. The line of people will show you the path to the law altar, but the problem is that there may be too many people competing around(Guild Wars). Again, how much runescape money you actually make depends partly on your timing and luck.

First, make sure that you have no armor or weapons equipped while law running. Also, wearing boots of lightness or the hunting skill capes can help speed up sprinting and decrease the time it takes to complete each run.(Guild Wars)

You will need at least 27 Pure Essence to law run. If you don’t already have 27 pure essence, then buy it and runescape money!

1. First, go to the Draynor bank and withdraw 27 essence from your bank(about runescape money). This essence must not be noted.

2. Head to Port Sarim and talk to one of the monks. They will ship you to Entrana, where the law alter is located.

3. Once you get to the alter, look for people saying “open.” Trade with them. On the trade screen, offer your 27 essence. They will trade you 27 noted essence and 27 law runes for your essence!

4. Head back to the Draynor bank, and repeat the law running process as many times as you can. After you acquire a good sized stock of law runes, sell your law runes for the current market price.

If you’re a non-member, air running will be your only option. However, if you’re a member, experiment to see which method works the best for you.

Basic Technique – Herbs

October 21, 2007

Herbs are valued throughout the Runescape community for their uses in Herbalore. Herbs are a great way to make Runescape money, and in this section I will describe non-merchanting techniques for making money with herbs.

Perquisites:

- This technique is for members only
- Able to kill level 19 Chaos Druids
- Any amount of Runescape gold
- Optional: 25 Herblore or higher(runescape gold)

Killing Chaos Druids
Warning! This technique requires you to go into the wilderness, where there is risk of attack by other players! You must also be able to kill level 13 chaos druids.
The Chaos Druid technique is wonderful for earning Runescape money when you’re a medium level player who needs Runescape gold fast. It does involve going into the wilderness, so there are some risks, but this Runescape money making method pays off greatly. It’s one of the best Runescape money making techniques that doesn’t involve skills, merchanting, or investing.

Chaos Druids are located in the Wilderness portion of the Edgeville Dungeon. To store the herbs you obtain, go to the Edgeville bank because it’s the closest bank available.

Kill the Chaos Druids in the wilderness portion of the Edgeville Dungeon for herbs. Also, look out for items such as the Rune Spear, Dragon Spear and Half Key that the druids occasionally drop. These go for a lot of cash so be sure to pick them up!

After you aquire a nice stock of herbs, sell the unidentified herbs (”unids̶ ;) to other players for 1k each. Each trip should make you 28k or more (if you received a rare item drop, you’ll receive even more Runescape gold)!

For players with a high enough herblore level (at least 25), an even faster way to make Runescape money is to identify the herbs while still in the wilderness, and drop all herbs that are not Rannar or above. Rannar herbs can sell for 5k each or more. This way, you’ll earn an excess of 140k per trip, plus any profit you gain from extra drops!

Buying and Selling Herbs
There are precautions you need to take before buy runescape gold and sell unidentified herbs. These precautions are more commonly known as “anti-scam.” Please use the official Runescape website to read these precautions.

Basic Technique – Big Bones

October 16, 2007

Big bones are extremely valuable throughout the runescape community. They are an excellent item to merchant, but if you’re short on cash, they’re also very good items to collect and sell. Big bones are dropped by hill giants and the area with the most hill giants is the Edgeville Dungeon.

Perquisites:

- This technique is for both non-members and members
- Level 40 and up
- Any amount of runescape gold

Getting There

If possible, make sure you have some backup food before venturing out, just in case your HP falls too low.

To access the Edgeville Dungeon, you need a Brass Key. This key can be obtained through trade with other players, so you’ll need a little cash to buy one. After you obtain a Brass Key, go west of Varrock. Just before the bridge leading into the Barbarian Village, head north and you should spot a small building. Use the Brass Key to enter the building and climb down the stairs.

You can alternatively access the dungeon by starting in Edgeville. This path does not require a key, but the trip is long and there are higher level monsters. If you decide to travel this route, grab a Brass Key in a room near the end of the dungeon for easy access later.

Tips and Tricks

Kill the hill giants and they will drop big bones. The catch is that there are many other players there trying to kill the giants, so try to get to them before they do.

Other than big bones, the giants drop other valuable items such as Limpwurt Roots. Seize these items and sell them on members servers for the most benefit. Limpwurt roots are fairly difficult to sell on non-member servers, because there is no use for them in non-member game play, but there are always some members looking to buy them.

If you reduce a giant to less than half health, then you will always receive what it drops, no matter who finishes the giant off. For example, you can fight two giants at once: reduce one down to less than half health, then fight a second giant. When the second giant dies, go back and fight the first giant. If someone already killed it for you, then you will still get the big bones! This benefits you greatly when there are a lot of people fighting for big bones. I used this trick and it increased my profit margin by a significant amount!

Buying and Selling

October 11, 2007

Here are some useful tips and tricks for buying and selling items in Runescape. I’ll outline some essential things to remember when dealing with other players, and tell you tips on finding people to buy from and sell to.

Always Use the Forums!

The Runescape forums are among the most valuable resources available to any player who merchants or invests. Read the forums to find people who are buying and selling items, then reply to the topic or send them a message in game to negotiate prices and set up a trade. The forums can also be used as a reference of current market prices. You can easily find an item’s current market price by keeping a sharp eye on the messages posted in the boards.

If you’re a member, you can even post a new topic to buy and sell items. Keep your topic simple and make it easy to understand. Include any necessary prices and other information. Also, once you do post a new topic, don’t ignore the game window – if interested, people may send you a private message in game instead of posting a reply on the forums. Be courteous – if you agree to a deal, offer to travel to the other person’s world and location instead of having that person come to you.

Best Worlds and Locations

Most non-members will go to World 1 Varrock near the west bank to do their business, and members will prefer World 2 Falador near the east bank. However, you’ll find that prices are generally slightly (or even significantly) higher at these locations than in smaller worlds. When merchanting, it’s recommended that you buy items in a smaller world and sell the items in a more busy world (such as World 1 or World 2) for a higher price.

Additionally, certain banks might be the hub for buying and selling certain items. For example, if you’re buying and selling iron and coal ores, it’s best to go to the Falador east bank regardless which world you’re on.

Negotiating

You’re going to want to get the best deal possible for a particular item. However, if you buy an item for too low or sell an item for too high, it’s going to take longer to find a person to buy from or sell to. Although buying an item for a lower price will make you more profit per merchanting run, the route will take you a longer time to carry out. Experiment to see which prices will yield you the most amount of profit in the long run.

When negotiating, try hard not to lose your buyer or seller (unless they’re making ridiculous demands). Don’t demand too much from them, or they may leave. You’ll find that many buyers and sellers are desperate to buy or sell an item. If you believe this is the case, then you can usually push a better price out of them (however, don’t go too far!). Try not to sound desperate yourself, or they might try and get a better price out of you!

Key People

When merchanting, add key people to your friends list, but ask them first. For example, if someone sells you iron for cheaper than the market price, ask them if they’ll provide you with iron in the future. If they agree, add the person to your friends list and keep in contact. If you plan to make a living by merchanting frequently, keeping a list of key people handy is essential to good gold making in Runescape.

Making Gold with Skills

October 9, 2007

Although merchanting and investing are fast ways to make Runescape gold, in some cases skills may even be faster. However, getting your skill levels high enough may cost time and money in the long run, whereas merchanting and investing can be done by just about any player. Although this guide was written primarily to help people with less experience in skills, this section will tell you how to best make Runescape gold off your skill levels.

When gathering resources with a gathering skill (such as woodcutting, when you are gathering logs), there’s bound to be other players competing for the same resource. If this is the case, switch worlds or respawn locations if the other players hinder your progress enough.

Woodcutting

We’ll start off with woodcutting. Woodcutting is one of my favorite skills to make gold on, simply because of how much demand there is for logs. Before level 35, train up on normal and oak trees. After level 35, one of the best ways to level up woodcutting is to chop willow trees in Draynor. Although this won’t exactly make you a fortune, selling the willow logs is a good idea. If you’re trying to raise other skills that require the logs, such as fletching, use them for that – the logs aren’t all THAT valuable.

Once you reach level 70 woodcutting, you can begin chopping Yew trees. Although you could already do this at level 60, chopping Yews for gold is highly inefficient at that level. You can choose to keep training on Willow trees until Level 75, though, because Willow trees still yield the most experience at your level.

Level 70 is when the serious gold making begins. For non-members, my favorite place to chop is south of Falador, where there are three respawning trees. There’s also a few in north Varrock and a few at the Edgeville entrance to the Edgeville dungeon. Members have some more choices. You can either chop the Yews in the Seers’ Village, or go west of Catherby and use the many trees there.

Non-members can continue to chop Yew trees until 99. At that level, chopping the trees is efficient enough to make lots of profit – each log can sell for up to 400 gold in today’s market. However, members have Magic logs as another option.

Once members reach woodcutting level 85, they can begin to efficiently chop Magic trees. Remember that cutting Yews results in faster money sometimes, because the Magic trees are often crowded. Try switching servers if you are stuck with a crowd or people. Cut Magic trees at the Mage training area, southwest of the Seers Village, southwest of Lletya, and outside the Sorcerer’s Tower.

To best sell your logs, look at the Buying and Selling section of this guide. For maximum profit in the least amount of time, always sell in bulk of 1k or more, and for the best current price.

Smithing

Steel bars are in high demand in the Runescape market today, so it’s a good idea to smith your own steel bars in order to sell them for a high price. However, instead of mining your own ores for this purpose, which can take quite a long time, buy the iron and coal from individual miners on small worlds for cheaper than the normal market price (I recommend buying at the Falador bank).

Make sure you buy the right proportion of coal and iron. For example, if you wanted to smith 1000 bars, you would need 1000 coal and 2000 iron.

After you smith all the steel bars, sell them for a higher price than you bought the iron and coal for. Use World 1 or World 2 Falador to sell the steel bars the fastest, and don’t forget to keep an eye on the forums as well.

Combining Magic and Smithing

You can combine Magic and Smithing to make gold, too. If your Magic level is high enough to perform the High Alchemy spell, don’t sell your steel bars. Instead, smith them into Steel Plate bodies and perform the High Alchemy spell on the plate bodies to make gold (be sure you have the necessary runes!). This is almost always faster than just selling the steel bars, but watch the market to see how to maximize your profit. Each Steel Plate mail yields 1,200 gold from High Alchemy.
